Jinghong

Jinghong is a major city and the capitol of the Xishangbanna prefecture. We were able to enjoy some great Western food and modern amenities which was well appreciated after being off the beaten path for so long. Our plan was to take a river tour down the Lancang (Mekon) River, but uncooperating weather (lots of rain!) forced us to head to our next destination. By the way, a prefecture is a municipality larger than a county but smaller than a state/province.
